Funding

The Government has instituted a number of funding programmes to provide financial support for the local industries, including the fashion industry. These programmes are aimed at strengthening the Government's support for design and innovation, upgrading the technology level of the industry, providing support to the development of SMEs, and increasing the competitiveness of Hong Kong's professional service sector. Design

Design Support Programme

The Innovation and Technology Commission launched the DesignSmart Initiative in mid 2004. This initiative aims to strengthen Government's support for design and innovation, instill into our industries high value-add, high intellectual property and creativity content, and ultimately turn Hong Kong into a focal point of design excellence in the region. Under this initiative, there is a funding programme "Design Support Programme", comprising four schemes:

		Design-Business Collaboration Scheme (DBCS), which aims at promoting collaborations between design companies and the SMEs.

		Design Research Scheme (DRS), which aims at supporting worthwhile research in design or branding-related areas.

		General Support Scheme (GSS), which aims at promoting and honoring design excellence in Hong Kong.

		Professional Continuing Education Scheme (PCES), which aims at developing professional continuing education courses in design and its application.
