Attachment/Internship/Mentorship Programmes
Under attachment/internship programmes, students of fashion and related courses are assigned to work in companies where they can acquire knowledge of a "real work" environment and their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments. On the other hand, companies providing attachment/internship placesalso benefit from the assistance from the high quality students.
In summer 2004, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and the Vocation Training Council co-organized the programme 「神州青雲路」for students to gain working experience in various disciplines in Mainland China. During the same period, the Trade and Industry Department also engaged students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Institute of Vocational Education of the Vocational Training Council as "Fashion Industry Ambassadors", who assisted in promoting the supporting services to the local industry. Attachments and interns found the programmes excellent opportunities for broadening their horizons and for preparing themselves for a career in the fashion industry.
Mentorship Programmes
Under mentorship programmes, mentors provide mentees with guidance and assistance on the intricacies of managing and administering their career and enterprises.
The Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of the Trade and Industry Department organizes the Mentorship Programme for SMEs. It helps an SME owner to match a mentor, who may be an accomplished entrepreneur, senior executive or professional, for seeking one-to-one free counselling for a period of nine to twelve months. |
